McDaniel College Stadium
McDaniel College recently completed construction of a new stadium facility to better reflect their long athletic traditions and history. The need for this new stadium was highlighted in their facilities master plan, created by Derck & Edson.
The new complex was designed to replace both home and visitor seating with a state of the art facility. Due to the significant grade changes surrounding the stadium, the home grandstands are entered through a bridge onto the concourse level. Above this level is a large press-box for the press and the coaches, as well as a spacious VIP room overlooking the field. Under the stands are half-time rooms, training rooms, and officials’ locker rooms.
In order to better accommodate the traditions at McDaniel, improved walkways, lighting and handicapped accessibility was created to support the tailgating that has historically occurred in the end-zone, better known as “the bowl.”
