Columbia River Park
Columbia, Pennsylvania
The River Park master planning process responded to Columbia’s desire for future park growth within its existing 4.1 acre property, as well as within a largely undeveloped, adjacent tract located along the Susquehanna River between the Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Wright’s Ferry Bridge. The plan has been embraced by the community, is supported by local and state government officials, and includes upgraded pedestrian access, new entry features, and an accessible river walk with railroad-viewing and river-viewing platforms; a new marina building with a terrace to accommodate cultural programs and café dining; new and renovated boat launch facilities including a canoe and kayak loading area; removable boat docks; interpretive biking and walking trails through naturalized and historic areas; an educational center and outdoor amphitheatre; expanded parking areas.
