Cairn University Athletics Master Plan
Derck & Edson was charged with preparing conceptual design alternatives in order to develop the best possible site and configuration of the new NCAA competition facilities for Cairn University. Our scope also included construction cost estimates and fund-raising graphics to develop interest and awareness for the eventual project and to be used to attract donors for the project.
In keeping with the existing Master Facility Plan (MFP) and the University’s mission, vision, institutional objectives, and long range plan, the design incorporates the University’s desire to construct a 600-seat, lighted, outdoor facility with artificial turf and public facilities situated at the east side of the existing campus. This includes construction of a track surrounding the artificial turf field, an adjoining natural turf practice field, an access road, parking, press box, locker rooms, concessions, athletic gear and maintenance equipment storage facilities, and walkways. The scope of the project will also include playing field lighting and fencing installations for the existing softball and baseball fields.
