Hollidaysburg
Improved pedestrian safety was a priority for Hollidaysburg Borough along the US Rte. 22 corridor in the borough.
Our work included design and permitting for new accessible ramps and crosswalks at four key intersections along Blair Street. The work was funded through the PADOT Transportation Enhancement program and utilized the ECMS format for drawing preparation, review, approval, and bidding. The source of funding required the project to be completed on a compressed schedule, which we met, while also coming in below budget.
The design process included open community meetings with the residents and business owners along the corridor.
During the meetings, each group shared their specific comments, concerns, and opinions on the current configuration of the street corridor. Their honest feedback was a driving factor in the design solution for the corridor, sidewalks, and crossing locations.
This level of involvement early on in the process was the most critical step in the overall success of the Blair Street enhancements.
