Alvernia University Athletics
Derck & Edson has been working with Alvernia University to examine options for facility enhancements to support their new football program as well as benefit the daily operations of the Athletics Department for athletic and academic programs that are already offered at the University.
Working with the University, three scenarios for proposed football facilities and interior renovations were developed. A preferred scenario was selected and includes exterior improvements such as a new freestanding locker room building, bleachers with storage underneath, press box, VIP booth, and a stadium plaza along with other site improvements.
Inside, renovations to the existing locker room on the gym floor level will be made to create smaller sized unisex locker rooms for greater flexibility, expanded laundry and athletic training space, and creation of flexible coaches’ office space.
Public restrooms to serve the spectators at the exterior bleachers will also be created with on-grade access from the new stadium plaza.
Future improvements include converting the existing weight room into a wrestling practice room, and the lower level program space will be converted to additional coaches’ offices and team meeting rooms.
