College Row
This project involved the redevelopment of a full city block in the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Located opposite the Franklin & Marshall College campus, this bold effort blends the new development into the existing fabric of the City and draws inspiration from the historic brick warehouse district in which it is located. What was once a vacant industrial site is now a desired destination.
Although the architecture is four-stories high, the streetscape was designed for the pedestrian. Landscaping, site furnishings, and hardscape elements combine to create a comfortable zone for pedestrian traffic and gathering.
Harrisburg Avenue traffic travels past the College Row site. To minimize pedestrian/vehicular conflicts, a planted median was added to the other streetscape elements to promote traffic calming and safety.
