Culinary Institute of America Housing
On the campus of the Culinary Institute of America, plans for new housing will create a system of cottages encompassing over 50% of the existing campus. Because housing plays such an important role and commands such a large portion of the space, it is imperative that these structures and their surroundings make a positive impact.
The site is heavily wooded, therefore preserving the woodland feel and the adjacent wetlands is a prime consideration.
A new loop road throughout the site slows traffic throughout this wooded section of campus. The plan also outlined improving the aesthetics and functionality of the parking areas on campus as well as improving pedestrian safety in these areas. Enhanced drop-off areas are also being developed to the rear of Roth Hall for busses and visitors.
In the more open spaces of campus, better soccer and softball fields are being designed and developed for competitive and recreational play.
