Florida College Chatlos Library
An interior renovation project has converted a traditional library into an open and vibrant technology and learning hub at Florida College. The Chatlos Library now supports all library functions and the College’s new bachelor of arts communication degree program with a specialization in mass media. A major project highlight includes a digital media studio with a related control room and media storage. In addition, the enhanced spaces serve the campus community with:
- computer room
- study rooms and open seating
- west wing that houses the consolidated print materials collection
- coffee shop and café
This project began with complete interior demolition and a thoughtful reorganization of all library materials, including the College’s extensive special collections. New walls define the café area, open study spaces, classrooms and offices, and areas for silent study. Each space has been updated with new finishes and furniture.
The result is a welcoming and inclusive library that addresses students’ needs and desires for a modern-day learning environment.
