Birmingham-Southern College Urban Environmental Park
The Urban Environmental Lake project at Birmingham-Southern College provided a premier outdoor gathering space that also serves as a model of environmental stewardship, particularly in the treatment of storm water, low impact design features, and use of native plant and hardscape materials.
The Lake project also serves as a vital link to the BSC intramural fields and is also a wonderful compliment to the newly constructed student residences, located above the lake site.
Steps and seatwalls are incorporated into the hardscape design, providing ample areas for gathering and also an appropriate venue for outdoor classrooms.
