Chickies Rock County Park
Client: Lancaster County Board of Commissioners
The master plan for Chickies Rock County Park was prepared by Derck & Edson for the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation. It was prepared to:
- Analyze the natural and historical factors impacting park development
- Study and recommend park facilities that fulfill the recreation needs of the county
- Present design concepts for the construction of the park
The environmental and historical features of this 416-acre park are of particular interest. Chickies Rock, a picturesque rock outcrop along the Susquehanna River, is nationally significant. The remains of the vast 19th century iron works, railroad, and canal create a notable focus for park development and interpretation.
