Ebensburg Borough Rail Trail Extension and Entrances
The Borough of Ebensburg contracted with Derck & Edson for additional design work in the downtown. The Ebensburg Borough Rail Trail stopped where the downtown began. We helped the Borough by designing an extension to the trail that carries pedestrians and bicyclists through the downtown. At the same time, we worked with the borough to develop entrances to the borough at various points.
Specific initiatives include:
Prave Street Improvements at Cherry Street:
- Add entry signage to the parking lot
- Extend stamped brick pattern of Cherry Street to crosswalks, with a different color edge treatment
- Add sidewalk and split rail fence along the drainage channel
- Add native plant species to help stabilize the banks of the channel
- Add a single lane bike lane along the sidewalk
Prave Street Improvements at Julian Street:
- Add an evergreen hedge to screen the parking lot and provide a physical separation from the road
- Paint a designated bike lane along the shoulder of Prave Street
- Add shade/ornamental trees along the parking lot
- Add rail/trail signage
