Elizabethtown Pedestrian Pathway
Phase 1 of a borough-wide pathway system totals more than 3,500 linear feet of path and links the train station to the core downtown. This segment of the path includes a variety of unique design elements starting with in-grade LED lighting near Market Street which helps to illuminate the path as it passes between two three-story downtown buildings. Further west along the path, special seating alcoves are provided near the Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation facility to provide gathering spaces for the variety of youth sports participants that routinely use the facilities along the path. The high point of the path, perhaps both figuratively and literally, is the 140 foot pedestrian bridge that spans the Conoy Creek more than 18 feet in the air. From the bridge deck or any of its ramps and landings, path users are treated to a dynamic view of the creek corridor, the M&M Mars chocolate production facility, or the various football and baseball games that occur in the adjacent athletic fields.
