Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics

Gwynedd Mercy University was looking to better accommodate their field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer programs. Derck & Edson helped the university identify their space and program requirements and then find a spot for new and future athletic venues.

First, we developed four (4) different concepts. Important factors to consider included location on campus, cost ramifications, and impacts to the surrounding neighborhood.

Once a preferred concept was selected, we started the final design. The final plan tucks the main stadium into the southeast corner of the site. This location nestles the stadium into the existing slope and the surrounding wooded area.

Today, the new stadium supports the field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer programs.

The plan also lays out space for future practice fields, upgrades to the baseball field, and the relocation of their softball field.

Removal of an existing entry drive and adding permanent and overflow parking were also part of the plan. Designs for safety and security measures, lighting, and storm water quality rounded out this comprehensive plan for athletics at Gwynedd Mercy University.
