Downtown Hazleton is the nucleus of the Hazleton area community built on a foundation of the anthracite coal industry and the diversity of early immigrant settlement. For more than a century, that rich heritage has developed and grown to welcome a new wave of settlement and business opportunity. The future of Hazleton will continue to embrace diversity, entrepreneurship, strong work ethic, strong leadership, and reinvestment.
As a community, Hazleton and its residents will elevate the rich cultural, commercial, and financial heritage of downtown while striving to expand the residential density in the city.
Our planning projecthas tapped into the latent optimism that exists at this moment. Momentum is building in Hazleton, and this plan will provide a forum to ramp things up significantly, to show people how much potential exists here, to build on successes, celebrate victories, and blaze new trails.
