SU Science Building
As campus planners at Susquehanna University, we worked with the selected architecture team on the new Science Building project, providing both landscape architecture and civil engineering services. This new academic building houses the wet sciences – biology, chemistry, earth, and environmental sciences.
The location for the building, across University Avenue, required additional planning to make the building feel like it is part of the main campus while also pairing it with the existing science building, located directly across University Avenue.
The new plaza was created with stone pavers to look like a large-scale periodic table of elements. In addition to speaking directly to the scientific curriculum, the pavers are a green solution that allow water to infiltrate back into the soil. Donor opportunities are also available for individual pavers or “elements.”
The project has received LEED Silver certification.
