Rose Alley
Pedestrian connections were one of the major focuses of the Elizabethtown Borough Master Plan. After planning was complete, Derck & Edson developed a plan to implement planned enhancements to Rose Alley. These enhancements were specifically aimed at connecting parking areas to the main retail district.
Within the core downtown in Elizabethtown, there are many parking areas that exist along the backs of the downtown businesses. The alleys that connect these parking areas to Market Street, the main retail area, are not pedestrian-friendly or inviting. The improvements to Rose Alley keep the pedestrian experience in mind.
Brick paving on the walkways is flanked on either side by raised planting areas with perennial plantings. Pedestrian-scaled lighting includes both pole mounted and wall mounted fixtures as well as in-ground LED accent lighting that improves nighttime walkability.
